We have had the famous Le Mans 24hr race which was dominated by Audi once again, the exciting Valencia Grand Prix where sadly the home favourites had a poor race, hopefully the Brits will have more luck at Silverstone on July 8th. We have been racing with the College and had some good results with a couple of podiums and a lap record at Castle Combe. In rallying, Sebastian Loeb continues his domination with a win in New Zealand which has seen him stretch his WRC lead even further.

In this months (July 2012) Racecar Engineering, there are some great articles on the new LMP cars used at Le Mans including the Peugeot Hybrid which was designed, built but never entered for this years race. They also announced the that one of the largest companies in the British Motorsport Industry, the Lola Group, has gone into administration, this includes both the car and composite side of the business – Lola have had a huge impact on World Motorsport and have created and been involved with some fantastic projects including the Lola T70, Caterham-Lola SP/300R and multiple Le Mans Prototype Cars.

We also need to say Get Well Soon to Anthony Davidson after his horror crash at Le Mans in the Toyota after clashing with a Ferrari. Davidson fractured 2 vertebrae in his back but is out of hospital and on the mend, the aerodynamics on the car meant that after the collision, the Toyota took off into the air and eventually ended up slamming into the barriers at the end of a high speed section of the French circuit.
