About Ian Bettison

Ian Bettison has been writing regularly for Ian bettisonOxford University Press since 2007. Most recently he has contributed to the MyMathsforKS3 scheme and the third edition of STP Mathematics.

He graduated from University College, Oxford with a degree in PPE in 1995. After working as a financial accountant in London, he retrained as a mathematics teacher and is now head of department at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls in Birmingham.

Ian has been involved in the development of active learning in the classroom and has worked on projects funded by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) and The Royal Society. He works extensively with gifted and talented students across all key stages and hosts a Sixth Form further mathematics conference each year at his school. Ian is also Subject Leader for Mathematics at the King Edward’s Consortium, a provider of initial teacher training in Birmingham.
