My love of Geography stems from my international travel and my Geography degree at the University of Southampton, where I gained a place on the Dean’s List for academic excellence. I took up teaching as a second career after leaving the graduate scheme at Aldi Stores Ltd. as an Area Manager. In 2007, I completed my Post Graduate Certificate of Education at the University of Exeter and gained a teaching role at one of my placement schools, Exmouth Community College in Devon.
At the end of my first year at the school, I secured the position of Initial Teacher Training and Newly Qualified Teacher Coordinator, supporting the professional development of around 20 teachers each academic year. In 2010, I joined Langley School in Norfolk as Head of Geography and later combined this role with that of Head of Careers. After three successful years in East Anglia, I moved to West Sussex where I’m currently Head of Sixth Form at Burgess Hill Girls and work as an examiner.
Outside the classroom, I’m a keen windsurfer and have coached on Necker Island, Richard Branson’s private island; I’ve also lived and worked in Australia and Greece.
